Symrise Completes Creative Center, Phase I Production Facility in China

Symrise is continuing to grow its flavor and fragrance market positioning in China with the inauguration of a new creative center in Pudong, Shanghai. The €8 million ($9.9 million) facility features cutting-edge technology for perfumers to develop an estimated 9,000 different fragrances for the Chinese market each year. It has larger spaces for fragrance creation and market research, an application laboratory for customer samples, hair and home care test rooms as well as consumer insights facilities, all in close proximity to each other.

Symrise has also invested €50 million ($62 million) for the first phase of construction of a production facility in Nantong. The company plans to invest a total of €83 million ($103 million) in this flavors and fragrances facility, Symrise’s second in China, which is located off of Shanghai’s high-speed train and metro. Symrise is promoting sustainable technologies at this facility, which sits on 5 hectares of land. Symrise has been active in the Chinese market for 36 years.
