Ecolab’s Bill Phillips receives distinguished service award from ACI

William H. “Bill” Phillips, Director of Regulatory Affairs at Ecolab, has received the American Cleaning Institute’s (ACI) Elva Walker Spillane Distinguished Service Award. Phillips joined Ecolab in 2003 and has developed corporate environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs. He has also managed facility EHS audits, worker safety, product Safety Data Sheets and labels, product registration, ingredient inventories, corporate sustainability and given regulatory support to customers.

Phillips previously served as Chairman of ACI’s International and Research, Technology & Regulation Committees, and has supported numerous initiatives affecting the cleaning product supply chain, including:

  • Phosphorus regulations
  • Implementing the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals
  • Reforming of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)
  • Engaging with California regulatory initiatives
  • Supporting research efforts for topical antiseptic products to meet Food and Drug Administration regulatory requirements

“Bill Phillips has been a stalwart expert resource on numerous research and regulatory initiatives undertaken by ACI over the years,” said Richard Sedlak, ACI Executive VP, Technical & International Affairs. “Bill’s expertise and dedication to excellence in science, health and safety has been invaluable to ACI and industry at-large.”

Phillips was given the award at ACI’s 2019 Convention in Florida in January.
