PARG & HCPA issue call for comments on new PARG Methods 20.0 & 21.0

Written on: July 2, 2019 by SprayTM

The Plastic Aerosol Research Group, LLC (PARG) and the Household & Commercial Products Association (HCPA) are seeking comments on PARG’s new methods—PARG Method 20.0 “UV Exposure Using Xenon Arc Light Apparatus Aerosol Products in Plastic Containers” and PARG Method 21.0 “UV Exposure of Product Formula Using Xenon Arc Light Apparatus Aerosol Products in Plastic Containers.”

These methods provide tests to determine the impact of UV radiation to aerosol products (material/resin, pigment/ colorant or product formulation). These methods provide controlled conditions to simulate an aerosol product in a plastic container’s exposure to natural UV sources (sunlight).

Reviewers will have until July 30, 2019 to submit their comments to HCPA regarding the methods. For questions, or to request a copy of the test method for review, please contact HCPA’s Aerosol Products Division Staff Executive Nicholas Georges at ngeorges@thehcpa.org.

The finalized methods will be available for purchase via the HCPA website within the PARG’s Aerosol Products in Plastic Containers Guide.

PARG’s methods and standards are used by those engaged in the formulation, manufacture or marketing of aerosol products in plastic containers. PARG has developed the Aerosol Products in Plastic Containers Guide as voluntary methods and standards to conduct evaluations that address regulatory requirements and identify appropriate measurements during the development and manufacturing of aerosol products in plastic containers. The availability of the Aerosol Products in Plastic Containers Guide is the result of a collaborative and consensus research and evaluation process from PARG member companies.
