HCPA Aerosol Products Division, CMI to host joint Aerosol Recycling Proposal Discussion (virtual); open to all

Written on: August 31, 2020 by SprayTM

Everyone in the aerosol industry is welcome to participate…

Sustainability initiatives across various packaging materials and product sectors—as well as legislative proposals that would put more responsibility on brand manufacturers to manage their packaging—have been transforming the packaged goods landscape.

The Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI) and Household & Commercial Products Association (HCPA) want to position the aerosol industry to be prepared for and have an advantage when these sustainability initiatives and waste management proposals come into force. To that end, both organizations have taken the feedback from their last joint meeting and have worked with potential consultants to revise potential aerosol recycling initiatives.

The goal of this work is to better understand the waste disposal system for aerosol products and the technical barriers to recycling more containers.  Then, with the increased understanding from the research, to then embark on an effort to get more aerosol containers recycled and to make the system more circular.

Join HCPA & CMI on Tuesday September 15, 2020 at 3PM EDT to discuss a potential first phase initiative focused on research for aerosol product sustainability and recycling as well as how industry can build off the research in the first phase.

Attendees are encouraged to review the proposals ahead of the call, although they will be reviewd during the meeting so that everyone is on the same page.
