Swedish company Purple Holding AB launched the Plug-In Can system that consists of a stabilizer, which already includes a stem; a small, rubber O-ring; a metal spring; plastic housing; and a dip tube. The design allows one part to be used in place of three items, which makes manufacturing more cost-effective, according to the company. Its efficient assembly also opens up more opportunities for design creativity.
The traditional metal mounting cup and rubber gasket are replaced by the stabilizer, which seals the package with a new closure system. The stabilizer is inserted into the can by means of specially-developed machinery.
At 2.6g, the stabilizer is lightweight and remains completely sealed in the can. The shape of the stabilizer helps ensure an adequate seal, minimizing any micro-leakage due to the unique design of the can and the inner-facing flange.
The stabilizer also helps eliminate the need for a metal mounting cup and rubber gasket. Acting as the upper-valve housing, it integrates with the rest of the valve components, including the stem, gasket, spring and valve housing. With a force of 900N, the stabilizer is securely and tightly inserted into the can, helping to ensure a leak-free seal. Additionally, the O-ring seal variant is capable of withstanding higher pressures.
The stabilizer design not only facilitates open can filling but also simplifies the can-filling process by eliminating the need for a complex valve clinching operation, said Purple Holding. This helps reduce production costs and enhance efficiency overall. The stabilizer is made of high-quality PA 6.6, a lightweight, durable and cost-effective material. The stem, steam seal and spring are constructed in the same manner as standard valves.
