MBC Aerosol to host 2/26 webinar on Electrical Installations in Class 1 Hazardous Areas

Written on: February 19, 2025 by SprayTM

MBC Aerosol will hold a free webinar on Wednesday, Feb. 26 in partnership with Pepperl+Fuchs, a German manufacturer of electronic products for fabrication and process automation, covering the safest ways to install electrical systems in hazardous areas. The webinar will begin at 10 a.m. CST.

A Class 1 Hazardous Area is any place where flammable gases, vapors or liquids could create an explosion if there’s a spark or too much heat. This could be places such as oil refineries, gas stations, or manufacturing plants that use chemicals.

Since regular electrical equipment could cause a fire in these environments, special safety measures are needed, such as:

  • Explosion-proof enclosures that contain any sparks.
  • Sealed wiring to prevent flammable gases from reaching electrical parts.
  • Intrinsically safe systems that use low-energy circuits to eliminate the risk of ignition.

The webinar’s guest speaker will be Ryan Brownlee, who currently serves as the Product Manager-MCC Americas/Hazardous Locations SME at Pepperl+Fuchs.
