McBride will official shutter its Hull, UK-based aerosol factory on March 31. This will result in the loss of 117 jobs. The company said it experienced “substantial losses” in its aerosol department, heavy restructuring costs in 2018 (£15.8 million [$20.8 million]) and faced extreme margin pressures and competition in the UK. However, sales rose from £212.3 million to £220.9 million ($279.8 to $291.1 million) in 2018 due to increased customer pricing and volume gains in the household segment.
As part of the restructuring, McBride sold its Personal Care Liquids business last November for £6.7 million ($8.8 million). McBride also has sites in Middleton and Barrow in the UK.
