Richard Sedlak set to retire from American Cleaning Institute

Richard Sedlak, American Cleaning Institute’s (ACI) Executive VP of Technical & International Affairs, will retire on Dec. 31 after more than 42 years with the association.

Dr. James Kim will succeed Sedlak starting Jan. 1. Kim is currently ACI’s Associate VP of Science & Regulatory Affairs.

Rich is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and will consult with ACI through early 2020 on key projects he was involved with at the association.”

Kim joined ACI in July 2018 and previously served as a Senior Toxicologist at the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

Sedlak, who joined ACI in 1977, has oversee a broad range of environmental fate and human and environmental toxicology initiatives for cleaning product chemicals. He has led the coordination of U.S. and international industry input to United Nations and Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to develop a harmonized system to manage chemicals based on best practices.
