Nussbaum Matzingen AG, manufacturer of aluminum monobloc cans, launched an aerosol can made from 100% post-consumer-recycled (PCR) aluminum. It is the first of its kind containing no primary aluminum, according to Nussbaum.
The starting material is recycled mono-material aluminum scrap from consumer goods. The collected scrap is pressed, converted into slugs and processed into aerosol cans by Nussbaum, using the customary impact extrusion production process.
Thanks to the close collaboration and the local organization of the various material processors, the concept can be documented transparently. There is no compromise of aesthetics or quality for the consumer, nor is product safety or production process compromised when filling or transporting the cans.
The geographical proximity between the recycling collection point, the aluminum processor and the can manufacturer, which is less than 150km, optimally supports the sustainability goal, said Nussbaum.
Under the claim “From Waste to Can,” Nussbaum is planning to further its range of products made from PCR material to include screw- and pill-Cans and flexible and rigid tubes.
