The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has confirmed the acceptance of Zep Antibacterial Disinfectant & Cleaner with Lemon, Zep Spirit II Ready-To-Use Detergent Disinfectant and Zep All Purpose Bathroom Disinfectant to protect against COVID-19. It was based on testing that demonstrated the products kill the virus on hard non-porous surfaces in 60 seconds.

“We are proud to deliver a meaningful step in the ongoing fight against COVID-19 by providing our customers with products that deliver the fastest protection against SARS-CoV-2,” said CEO Dan Smytka. “Our 80-year history of offering the highest quality of cleaning and disinfectant products guarantees our customers’ every cleaning need is covered both at home and at work.”

Zep has worked with regulatory authorities to secure and commercialize a label against SARS-CoV-2 for these three products (listed under EPA Registration No. 1839-83), based on the primary registrant status. Additionally, 17 other Zep disinfectants are already included on the EPA’s List N and contain an emerging virus pathogen claim for use against SARS-CoV-2.

“Zep has a long-standing track record of superior chemical innovation and rapid response to our customers’ ever-changing needs across many different sectors of life,” said Philp Thonhauser, CTO. “We are pleased to work with partners who enable us to continue this important work, especially in light of a global pandemic where health and safety of our customers is of utmost importance.”
