Frauenheim was also extremely involved in industry trade associations, holding leadership positions in regional aerosol associations. He also served as a long-time Executive Board member, as well as serving a term as Chairman of the Aerosol Products Division, of CSMA (now the Household & Commercial Products Association or HCPA). In 1993, he received the Charles E. Allderdice Jr. Memorial Award, the highest award offered by the HCPA.

Frauenheim was influential in the success of the aerosol industry for many years and was a mentor to many of its current leaders. He retired from DCPC in 2000 and is the uncle of DCPC VP of Operations, Bill Frauenheim.

Dick Frauenheim leaves behind his wife, Rita; two daughters, Cathi Caimi and Donna Johnson; four grandchildren; brother Bill and sister Cathy Hospodor.
