Yost

Products Association (HCPA), retired on June 30 after 26 years of dedicated service to HCPA, and especially the Air Quality Council.

Working with HCPA’s Air Quality Council, Yost has successfully advocated member companies’ consensus positions via written comments and oral testimony in negotiating air quality regulatory requirements proposed by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the Ozone Transport Commission (OTC), and individual state environmental agencies. According to the HCPA, Yost’s knowledge and expertise in this area are unmatched, and this work has been critical to the household and commercial products industry.

Some may recall that Yost originally worked in State Affairs for both HCPA predecessors CSMA and CSPA, but he has also managed the Air Care Products Division almost since its inception. In this role, he has been instrumental in leading the Air Care Reputation Task Force, which works to educate consumers, the media, and NGOs about the science and safety of air care products. Yost helped organize the Air Care Summit and the Clearing the Air Summit—both of which gathered highly respected academics, industry leaders and technical experts for discussions about the importance of air care.

Additionally, Yost helped lead the Retail Engagement Work Group, which works with major retailers, including Amazon, Costco, CVS, Home Depot, Target, and Walmart, to provide practical recommendations for developing and implementing ingredient communication and chemical management policies.

“Joe will be greatly missed and impossible to replace, but we wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement,” said Steve Caldeira, President & CEO, HCPA.
