Personal care brand Henkel is partnering with Shiseido to acquire a majority stake in Shiseido’s Asia-Pacific Hair Professional business, which is sold in salons primarily in Japan, China and South Korea. Shiseido will retain a 20% share in the legal entity in Japan. The deal includes brands such as Sublimic and Primience, which experienced sales of €100 million ($113 million) in 2020 and employs more than 500 people. It will join Henkel’s Professional Hair Care business, which will soon become part of Henkel’s new Consumer Brands business unit.
