The Household & Commercial Products Association (HCPA) and the Canadian Consumer Specialty Products Association (CCSPA) have partnered to host a joint webinar on April 4 at 1 p.m. covering the Canadian Volatile Organic Compound Concentration Limits for Certain Products Regulations.
The regulations, published as final in January 2022, establish concentration limits for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) for many household, personal care, commercial, institutional, and industrial products, and applies to any company that manufactures, markets, and imports products for sale in Canada.
Similar to the development and implementation of VOC regulations by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and many States, Canada’s regulation is based on the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) Consumer Product Regulations. However, Canada’s regulation has differences in the foundation of the regulation, and it will be important for companies to understand how that applies to their products.
Companies need time to read and become familiar with the regulations, get informed, and plan for possible reformulations and compliance, according to the HCPA.
