With the surge in Dengue Fever cases and fatalities in Bangladesh, demand and price of mosquito repellent products such as sprays, coils and creams are surging, accoding to an article in the The Business Standard.
Demand for aerosol mosquito repellent products increased 30% in the last two weeks. The price of aerosol mosquito repellents has risen from Tk35 (32¢) to Tk50 (46¢) in a span of three months.
This year, the death toll from dengue fever in Bangladesh has exceeded the 400-mark. In the month of July alone, the country recorded 43,854 dengue cases, resulting in 204 fatalities. The cumulative count for the year as of Aug. 16 stands at 87,891 people who have been infected and subsequently hospitalized.
