Acquisition Expands the Company’s Portfolio of Insect Repellents
SC Johnson announced the family company has acquired Laboratório Osler do Brasil, maker of the Exposis insect repellent brand.
“We are thrilled to acquire the Exposis line of products,” said Fisk Johnson, Chairman & CEO of SC Johnson. “It is a premium brand in Brazil, and is a good complement to our existing line of trusted pest control products.”
Exposis is available exclusively over the counter in pharmacies throughout Brazil. It uses Picaridin as the active ingredient that helps repel mosquitoes and other insects.
As a private company, SC Johnson does not disclose details regarding financial or business transactions.
SC Johnson is the world’s largest manufacturer of pest control products, including OFF!, Raid, Autan and Baygon. For 60 years, SC Johnson entomologists have studied insects at the Entomology Research Center in Racine, the largest private, urban entomology research center in the world. In their research, they help SC Johnson create products that consumers can trust and provide them with the right product for their pest control needs.
The company has committed to provide up to $15 million in resources globally to help protect against mosquitoes. To date, more than $8 million of OFF! products and financial donations have been provided to organizations to aid in mosquito protection around the world, especially those regions with high risk of Zika virus and dengue fever outbreaks.
